A beautiful, almost figure of eight, walk from Hawkley through fields and woodland. There are two long upward hills and one steep descent (via the Zig Zag), as well as some undulations, and there are 6 stiles. The walk takes in two of the most beautiful beech wood hangars in the area, with stunning views (foggy when recced), as well as woodland glades and running streams.
A lot of Ash dieback work was done last year so some of the paths are quite uneven underfoot; there are also some muddy stretches. Please make sure your boots have good tread and are suitable for mud.
There will be coffee and lunch stops: please bring your own refreshments.
Unusually, I will be starting this walk at 10.00 am as the clocks will have 'sprung forward' on the Saturday night. Please arrive for a prompt 10.00 am start.
I will be asking everyone to ensure that they have completed ICE cards with them. I will have ICE cards to hand out for completion if you do not.
