Overview

This hike has some rather challenging sections but is well worth the effort!

The walk starts with a steady incline up Lumb Carr Road before heading left onto the moorland and up towards Peel Tower and Holcombe Moor. Circling the hill past Paddy's Pond and through Simons Lodge before a steady slight decline down through Reddisher woods to arrive back at our start point.  Some moorland walking, brooks to cross, a couple of waterfalls and woodland walking.

It can get muddy up on the tops at this time of year especially near Pilgrims Cross where it is likely to be boggy.  Country walking experience and a good level of fitness are required.  The walk will include some steep paths and open country and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential and perhaps poles.
