This is a lovely circular walk from the town of Hebden Bridge with some interesting features and a bit of up and down.
We start by walking fairly steeply up to the village of Heptonstall where we will visit the ruined church and see lovely views across to Stoodley Pike. After this we head into Hardcastle Crags, following the river to Gibsons Mill where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we leave Hardcastle Crags by walking uphill and crossing Shackleton Moor before reaching the lovely Crimsworth Dean. It's a gradual descent from here, all the way back to Hebden Bridge where we follow the river back into the town.
For those interested in culture there will be options to find the grave of Sylvia Plath in Heptsonstall and Catherine's house from the TV show Happy Valley! If you're not interested you can stand with me, looking bored whilst we wait for everyone else.
🅿️ Meet at Hebden Bridge railway station. Pay and display parking is available at nearby Station Road car park (currently £8 all day) – please note the station car park is for rail passengers only
