Another route from Hedgerley. Mainly flat with a couple of slight ups and downs. Again very different to previous routes. This time we head west along a quiet country lane and track past Penland Farm and an old staddle barn to the main A355. We need to cross the main road in both directions. It was fine on the recce but great care will be needed when you cross the road. We enter Egypt woods where the wood ants are very active. On leaving the woods we walk along another lane where we will have a short break. We then enter Littleworth Common, a lovely area of heathland with gorse and heather and will pass near St Anne’s church at Dropmore. We will have a brief look at the distinctive building and continue our way across the common. We will have our lunch break near the pond. Bring something to sit on. We then head along a narrow path and through Dorney wood and back into Egypt wood. On exit we cross the A355 again. Shortly we walk along a lane where cars may be going quite fast before turning north back across a common towards Hedgerley.
Refreshments at the White Horse PH are available post walk where they serve fine ales and have a lovely garden.
Well behaved dogs are allowed.
Bring a packed lunch
