Overview

An undulating walk heading due north from Rowlands Castle, hopefully offering wide expansive views across the rolling East Hampshire and West Sussex countryside. High points featured include Chalton Down, Windmill Hill, and Hampshire's highest point: Butser Hill, before we wend our way into the market town of Petersfield. (540m total ascent).

Please bring a packed lunch. Café stop at lunchtime (for drinks and cake only), with a pub at the end. (Marked as strenuous for ascent, rather than speed or distance).

Terrain: Fields, Woods, Chalk Paths, Country Roads

Travel: Take 8:45 from London Waterloo (8:52 Clapham Junction), arr. Rowlands Castle 10:23 (front 6 carriages only).
