This is a charming rural walk mostly through a good mixture of woodlands and fields starting at Hodgemoor Woods, and then walking across several farms and past Hertfordshire House and Luckings Farm famous at one time for its prize winning dairy herd. We continue in the direction of Winchmore Hill, where we pick up the Chiltern Way, which leads us on to Coleshill and back round to Hodgemoor Woods. There are some lovely views to be enjoyed along the way.
We will stop for a lunch break either at Winchmore Hill or Coleshill. Bring a picnic or snacks and something to sit on. We will be close to a pub.
The route is fairly level, though some of the paths are gnarly with tree roots, brambles and rough in places. There is one uphill section towards the end of the walk.
The walk starts and ends at the free car park in Hodgemoor Woods.
There are no public toilet facilities, although there are lots of outside amenities! At lunchtime we will stop near to a pub.
We have to cross the A355. This is a busy, fast road, please use the refuge to get across.
