Overview

From the bus stop on the Brighton to Lewes Road at Hope in the Valley, we walk up a long but gentle ascent through Houndean Bottom and Cuckoo Bottom to Mount Harry. The walk continues past Blackcap and joins the South Downs Way, almost to Ditchling Beacon. We take the diagonal left footpath across Western Brow and descend through two fields (cows and calves grazing likely). From the woods at the edge of Stanmer Park we take the track down into the village. Here there is an hourly bus back into Brighton or the walk continues to the entrance of Stanmer Park where there are regular buses towards Brighton or Lewes.
