Overview

A walk with some great views (we hope) from the other side of the southern Pennine ridge.

After leaving Chinley we have a steady climb to meet the Pennine Bridleway. From there we pass Mount Famine, named after the plight of the tenant farmers left to scrape a living on poor quality land after the enclosure acts. Keeping to the Bridleway and passing South Head we cross the Roych and head up to the top of Chapel Gate where it is downhill to Barber Booth and Edale.
