The walk commemorates the very first Sheffield Clarion Ramblers walk which took place on Sunday, 2nd September 1900. It started at Edale, took in Hayfield and the Snake Inn and finished at Hope. A total distance of 20 miles. It was led by GHB Ward who was accompanied by 14 walkers from Sheffield.
2025 also marks the 80th anniversary of GHB Ward donating Ward's Piece (Lose Hill) into the care of the National Trust.
We use decent paths/tracks on the route with the occasional stone flagged section. There are a number of uphill/downhill stretches but these will be taken at a leisurely pace.
Total ascent 580 metres: total descent 655 metres.
