Overview

St Cuthberts Way via Gains Law to head of Akeld valley; down to Gleadscleugh then back to High Humbleton past Harehope Plantation and east side of Humbleton Hill before returning south to join outward route to Wooler Common.

The walk will mainly be on well-marked paths, including St Cuthbert’s Way, some stoney and one possible short boggy stretch. Several long, steepish climbs and descents, but no stiles and spectacular views all the way. Grade: Moderate, with some steep sections.

There will be a lunch stop en-route, possibly at the head off the Akeld Valley and refreshment stops as required.
