We will walk close to lakes, ponds and the River Idle at this Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve near Retford. The walk will follow sections of the reserve trails and may involve a short distance of roadside walking. Some of the reserve paths are uneven and can be muddy following wet weather, so walking boots are strongly recommended. No stiles were seen on the recce but some gateways had low-lying obstacles to be stepped over and there were several kissing gates.
We will have a refreshment break on the way so bring a drink and snacks or packed lunch if preferred. For walkers who would like to stay for refreshments at the end of the walk, the visitor centre has a cafe and picnic tables.
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE 10 PLACES ON THIS WALK.
Please register for this walk on the Newark Ramblers website where you will also find details of our car share scheme.
Toilets are available in the visitor centre at the beginning and end of the walk. Please check the Idle Valley Nature Reserve website for information about the cafe and the reserve in general.
Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust request a donation for parking (£3 was the suggested donation at the time of the recce).
