Overview

This is the first in an experimental series of introductory walks to be designed especially for new walkers or those wanting to try a group walk in a casual way.  We are trying this to see whether such walks may be popular so if you can't make this one, please give us feedback to help us create walks for this series.

The walk will begin at Nethermains Community Centre, Nethermains Road, Kilwinning, KA13 6ES.  From there we will walk alongside the River Garnock to Kilwinning Town and then round Corsehillmuir Wood.

Depending on what walkers want to do, the route can be made flexible with finishing points in town (half a mile) or after the woodland circuit (3 miles).

Easy

This is an introductory walk and all interested participants are requested to contact the walk leader before the walk by phone on 0757 8609864.

No special equipment is needed but if you have walking boots, these are always a good idea.  If not, comfortable walking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy will be fine.

The route is entirely on well made paths and pavements.  A little mud may be anticipated in the woods.  There are only short sections of incline (148 ft in total).  We would call this an 'easy' walk with the emphasis is on encouraging people to give it a try.
