Overview

Coach starts at Prestwich at 08.20, picks up in Sedgeley Park 08.25, then Chorlton St at 08.50, Princess Road (bus stop just past Platt Lane M14 7ER) at 9.05, Princess Road (bus stop between Moorgate Ave and St Bernadette's RC church M20 1HH) at 9.08. (NB: Timings  for pick-up points are approximate - please be at the pick-up point at least 5 mins early)

Three led walks:

Long Walk - Strenuous (12.5 miles) Leader: Mary H

Linear from Cressage, Leighton, then mainly road walking to Garmston, Rushton Cottages. On to paths and a very steep climb up The Wrekin, Wrekin Cottage, Wrekin Farm, Gibbons Farm, Saplins Cottage. Road walking to Buidwas and a second ascent to Banghams Wood. Paths up to Benthall Edge and a woodland walk back down to Ironbridge. In many places this is a boardwalk and numerous steps. Poles are recommended particularly for the steep climb up The Wrekin. There are a number of stiles. Total ascent: 2055 feet, highest point 1335 feet

 

Medium Walk - Moderate (9.75 miles) Leader: Brian

Circular from Ironbridge via Severn Way/ Coneybury farm/ Folly farm/ Red Lane/ Caughley Rd/ Darley/ Willey/ Lodge farm/ Broseley/ Ironbridge. 1200ft ascent.

 

Short Walk - Easy/ Moderate (6.5 miles) Leader: Geoff

Circular from Ironbridge. River Path to Coalport Bridge, Coalport, The Villas and Lloyd's Coppice. Please note there are steep steps up to Lloyd's Coppice and steep steps down into Ironbridge from the Church.

 

Coach will leave Ironbridge at 6.00 p.m.

The ground may be muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a change of shoes, boot covers or something to clean your boots before getting back on the coach.

The first pick up point for the coach is the bus stop outside the entrance to the Longfield Centre on Bury New Road, Prestwich. For those joining in the city centre, the coach will stop on Chorlton Street, opposite the coach station, on the pavement side of the Britannia Hotel.
