The walk starts in the town centre car park, proceeds to the railway station, the secondary school, cemetery and out to the reclaimed tips that have been converted into Community Woodland. The statue of the Keeper of the Collieries will be found in the early part of the walk prior to heading to Caerau. Depending on the weather we will head out onto the mountain to make our way to the golf club and back through the Welfare Park to the start.
Previous walks in the area have been undertake in heavy rain, a decision on which route will be taken after consulting the weather forecast on the Friday morning before the walk. Poles and boots are recommended on this walk, areas are slippery. The walk to Caerau will be classed as moderate, if we go onto the mountain it will be strenuous.  The Strenuous category is shown on the main information.
