Southport Ramblers welcome all age groups from 8 to 80+ for fortnightly worry-free walking (travelling by coach) with like-minded people throughout the year.
We will be droped off by the bus station in Kendal. With three walks available you may have a choice of walking to The Mushroom on Scout Scar (pictured above by Clare Vattev), visiting the remains of a Baronal Castle, or a stroll along the bank of the River Kent.
Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave Trembath
B Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - 8.5 - 9 miles with 1125ft of ascent. Dropping off the coach before Kendal, and crossing open fields, then going up the west side of Scout Scar to the Mushroom for lunch. Returning along the top of the fells and into Kendal via more open fields, Scroggs Wood and the banks of the River Kent.
C Walk Leader - John Slatcher - We start with the walk up to the castle, but it's possible to walk around it if you wish, We then take the old canal route south before crossing the River Kent and returning by way of fields & paths next to the river.
