A linear walk from Kidsgrove to Congleton travelling by train from Congleton Station to Kidsgrove and walking back. Meet at Congleton Station in time to catch the 9.25 train to Kidsgrove, adult one way ticket is £4.40. less with rail card. There is a car park charge at the station, so I leave my car on the street in Cross Lane or other roads nearby.
The route is along the Macclesfield canal and then a sharp incline to Congleton Edge and Mow Cop, along the edge and back along the disused rail line from Biddulph.
This is a moderate walk of 9 miles and 210 metres of height gain. Bring a snack and packed lunch and water.
Its likely to be muddy in places so poles might be an advantage.
