This is what you might call a jigsaw of a route: so many of the pieces are familiar and you’ve seen them before. But in this configuration, they make a new picture with great views, weather permitting.
This moderate 12.5 miles / 20kms (approx) route with 1775ft/541m ascent (OS app) from Langley village takes in reservoirs, canals, waterways and ridges. Starting from the corner of Bottoms Reservoir and Clarke Lane in Langley, and heading towards Langley Hall, Birch Knoll and The Hollins, the route then follows the canal to Sutton Hall. After going alongside Sutton Reservoir and rejoining the canal, the walk then goes to Oakgrove before making the climb to the radio transmitter at Croker Hill. Descending to Lower Penhills and Higher Kinderfields, we join the Gritstone Trail for the final stretch to Langley.
