We start at Nidd Gorge car park, it's then east along the River Nidd, and along the Beryl Burton Way (who dominated women cycling with 7 world titles and 90 domestic championships) through the woods up over Gallows hill (best behave !) for coffee stop near Mother Shipton's Cave, past Chapel in the Crag with its 600 year old mini shrine and St.Robert's Cave, a rare example of a medieval hermitage, then back along the river and take a look at Knaresborough Castle, a Norman castle built 1100,
Lunch at Knaresborough (coffee / pub stop). It's then back along the picturesque River Nidd.
Although a great proportion of the walk is beside the River Nidd, I still managed an ascent of 1000ft with some short steep sections.
Walkers are reminded it is their responsibility to wear appropriate footwear/clothing, bring adequate food and drink and carry emergency contact details. Go to the Walks/Information for Walkers tab for more details.
