We will begin this walk from The Ladyland and Locherwood Community Woodland carpark and proceed down the track towards Ward House. Fifty yards before the old mansion house we leave the track and follow a nice grass path down through the trees to the clapper bridge. Once we are over the burn the path continues beside an old stane dyke. At the first break in the dyke we go through and pick up the path on the other side which carries on down to a tributary of the Locher Water. The path now narrows and winds its way through a young woodland. Care should be taken here to avoid the many surface roots. This path continues up to Ladymuir reservoir where we join a forestry road for about half a mile.
No visible paths now as we walk through long grass and reeds down to the Locher Water. The bridge has collapsed here, but no bother jumping! The trail now follows the Locher Water back down to the carpark. This section is notoriously muddy, but on the recce almost dry! Should we have lots of rain, come prepared with suitable boots! This is a beautiful short walk, through mature trees and young woodland following the meandering Locher Water for much of our trip.
