Oswestry Ramblers welcome people who enjoy walking and the countryside. We walk twice a week mainly in Shropshire and Wales and help improve local footpaths.

The circular route will follow forest paths over to the Lake before ascending a short but steep section of the Pererindid Melangell Walk. The route will then follow leisurely forest paths above the lake with gentle inclines before taking a track back down to the picnic area situated on the lake side. The route then heads over towards the dam and via footpaths around the back of the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel before the final return to the starting point.
Most of the paths will be woodland tracks, with gentle inclines with a small number of slightly steeper sections. The incline sections will be appropriately paced to accommodate walkers' needs and the weather. There will be a small number of stiles. Walking poles are recommended as some sections of the walk may be slippy and muddy.
The walk route may be adapted in the week prior to the walk to accommodate any changes required due to the weather. Please check the walk detail on the website by Friday 20 February 2026 in case any late changes have been made following the final recce.
Walkers should bring food and drink for two breaks on the walk.
