We start the walk leaving the car park and a short walk into the village. We then follow a cycle path for about 1.5 miles which is sturdy underfoot. Cross a stile and walk up a moderate incline of around 500 metres which is over 3 fields. We can stop for a couple of minutes for people to catch their breath if necessary.
We then follow a narrow country lane up to and passing through Lanchester Dairies. Cross and follow the road for 100m and through a farmyard, then over a series of fields with stiles or gates between them. Maximum of 10 stiles on whole walk.
Depending on how we are doing for time we could stop for lunch in one of the fields but would like to reach the stepping stones that cross the river. No seats, tables or toilets are available on the walk.
Walk up a slight incline to a stone built stile and walk along a narrow lane to a field that we cross to a couple of gates that lead to the main road.
WE HAVE TO WALK FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES ON THE ROAD WITHOUT A PATH TO WALK ON, ALTHOUGH YOU CAN STEP ONTO THE GRASS VERGE IF ANY CARS ARE PASSING.
Following the road back to Lanchester on footpath to end the walk.
There is a coffee shop and a pub for refreshments near the end of the walk if anyone would like to use. Toilets in the pub.
