From the lead mine we make a short ascent to New Brighton (not the Liverpool one!) Tracks through woodland then involve a few rickety stiles and low hanging trees! Field paths and quiet lanes take us to the edge of the moorland access where we will stop for coffee near Duncan’s bench and hopefully get a view. We then descend to avoid works at the reservoirs and follow field paths and roads, passing the solar farm, and head into woodland. The last part is the best and follows the river through leafy glens. There will be a lunch stop. On the recce I saw a running hare, Canada Geese, squirrels, heard a cuckoo and came across two different sheep with head stuck in a fence; let’s hope, apart from the sheep, they are around when we all do the walk!!
The leader will meet you at the start.
