Overview

We follow the Rhymney river from Machen to Bedwas past Machen Iron Forge on a riverside path to Waterloo and through Trethomas Riverside Park to the old bridge at Bedwas,  where we turn S for Gwern y Domen and Y Van, the Grade II listed Tudor Mansion House to take us into Caerphilly and the Castle.

Meet 9.45am Caerphilly Bus station (next to the railway station) for No. 50a Bus Stand 6 leaves at 9.53 to Machen (church/War memorial opposite the Co-op) 10.12.

Start 10.15am Machen War Memorial.

Finish at Caerphilly – train or bus back to Lisvane 

Walk Leader getting 9.20 train from Heath HL to Caerphilly, buying a return ticket.
