An ancient stone and memories of Dylan Thomas highlight this ramble through peaceful countryside near the River Tywi. Starting at the Green Castle Woodland Trust reserve, we'll head south for sea views, with a pretty little church.
Turning north we cross farmland and woods, passing Fernhill, the inspiration for one of Dylan's best known poems. We follow a drover's route to reach Myrddin's Quoit, actually far older than King Arthur's time. We'll have good views of Carmarthen and rejoin the Wales Coast Path to see the river again, ending back in Green Castle woods.
Country lanes
Footpaths with a good amount of mud
Sheep and possibly cattle - one field has a warning about a bull, though I didn't see it!
