Overview

Starting from Ashfield Park we follow the A49 to Gidlow Cemetery, passing through the cemetery to descend to the Douglas Valley. We then follow the lanes and the old railway at the foot of Haigh Park to reach the canal at the locks. Turning downhill we pass several canal locks to pass Wigan Pier continuing on the canal to reach Standish Lower Ground. Finally on paths and old railway tracks we pass Giants Hall to return to Ashfield Park.
