Overview

Starting from Gilwern we cross and recross the A465 heading up the Clydach valley. We then strike off on the ascent to the Lonely Shepherd where we find spectacular views of the Sugarloaf and Skirrid. We finally descend to Gilwern via St. Elli's church. Route follows ancient tramways and disused railway lines.

Start walk from Gilwern main road car park. Note that this is not a very big car park and some on-street parking may be necessary. NP7 0AP
