Train based walk

Leader: Mary S (boarding train at Stockport)

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Macclesfield station.

Transport to Walk Start: 10:15 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Macclesfield

Suggested Ticket: Off Peak Macclesfield Return £13.00

Walk Start: Macclesfieled Railway Station at 10:50

Waypoints:  Higherfence, Barracks Lane, Higher Hurdsfield, Swanscoe Farm, Kerridge, Bollington Recreation Ground, Macclesfield Canal, Middlewood Way

Return Services:  Trains to Manchester every 20 minutes 

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. There are toilets at the Macclesfield Railway Station and at lunch stop. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)

There will be a register taken before the walk start, as agreed with the festival organisers.

This is a circular walk enjoying the countryside between Macclesfield and Bollington. We will start from the station and walk up to Higher Hurdsfield, then Kerridge Ridge, return via the canal and Middlewood Way.

This is a mainly flat walk with small undulations. We will be walking on canal towpaths, across fields and along an old train route (Middlewood Way). Some sections may be muddy, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

There is an option to leave the walk at the lunch stop. Please speak to the walk leader for more details.
