The walk starts from the free public car park at Maiden Castle. Following a circuit of the Castle, we head inland skirting the west of Poundbury, taking care when we cross the A35 and around to Poundbury Hill Fort. We return via The Great Field, Brownsword Hall and past The Thomas Hardye School.
The route follows well marked paths and tracks. Some road walking is involved.
The climb up to Maiden Castle from the car park can be slippy after periods of rain or if it is frosty. Walking boots and walking poles are advisable.
No dogs please, as we will be crossing fields containing cattle and sheep.
Refreshments and toilets should be available at the PiP Cafe on The Great Field, but a picnic lunch is always a good option.
The walk may be cancelled in the event of bad weather, please check with the walk leader on 07720 890196 if in doubt.
