Overview

The route starts with a walk up though fields, often marshy in places, to Llyn y Manod, with lovely views over Cwm Teigl opening up behind us. We skirt round the lake beneath the slopes of Manod Mawr to reach an area of slate quarry remains, passing several small lakes before rising again through slate mines to Llyn Bowydd and Llyn Newydd. We descend towards Blaenau Ffestiniog into Cwm Bowydd, with views towards the Moelwyns, and thence back to the start.
