From Station Road, Strines, the walk explores the paths on Marple Ridge with views over the Cheshire Plain to the west and Kinder to the east. The route commences by taking the track up thro' Woodend Farm, then paths round Stanleyhall Wood and up to Turf Lea Road. At Lee Cote Farm we access the footpath network again, eventually reaching Hawk Green. From here we make our way down to and across the River Goyt and then back to Strines. Relaxed pace walk. It should be noted that there are some very muddy places on some paths plus one or two stiles needing care.
Although the pace is leisurely there are up moderate hill climbs.
We normally stop for a drink after about an hour walking and we stop for lunch at about 12:30 so bring along a hot or cold drink and a packed lunch.
New Mills Coop car park, please park against the back wall, for optional car share to the start.
Station Road Strines, about 200m down from Strines Road, please park on the left, opposite the village green. Those going direct to the start to please inform the leader in case of any late changes.
