Experience the distant views while walking on the heather moorland of Esclusham Mountain. We will also see the industrial heritage of the area as we walk along the disused railway line that used to serve the enormous and impressive Minera Quarry, which is now a nature reserve.
We start by following a fairly level track of the dismantled railway along to Minera quarry. A gradual climb through the quarry takes us to our coffee stop. After leaving the quarry we head off across the heather moorland, taking a gradual ascent (nothing too steep) up to the trig point of Esclusham Mountain to enjoy the views. ( lunch here if it is not too exposed). We then descend over moorland and old mine workings. There is a stretch of reasonable high bracken towards the end (gaiters may be advisable).
Bring refreshments for coffee and lunch stops.
The leader will meet you at the start.
