Overview

Starting from the foot of the The Cloud at Timbersbrook, we follow (on and off) the Gritstone Trail on a steady climb through fields and lanes up to Mow Cop. A slight detour allows us to pass the Old Man of Mow and the Castle. Coming off the ridge, we drop down to the Macclesfield canal and follow this back through changing scenery from rural to urban and back again. There are 2 of the famous snake bridges to cross on this stretch of canal.
