We follow steep woodland paths & bridleways up to The Chart, Scords Wood & Toys Hill, stopping for a short break at the site of Weardale Manor where we may have views across four counties.
With more than 1000ft of ascent this is, by our standards, quite a challenging walk with several sharp inclines, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed. Sections will be muddy - walking boots and poles are recommended.
Please arrive in good time for the walk briefing at 0950hrs in the 'Additional' parking section (north end of car park away from the NT buildings). We will set off at 1000hrs.
Park at the Chartwell National Trust Car Park. Parking is payable at the machines (free to NT members with membership card). Toilets & café at the car park. Sunday 23 November is the final day of the Chartwell Christmas Fair so the car park may be busy.
Dogs must be on short leads - there are a couple of fields with livestock.
