Starting from the Moira Miners Welfare we will visit the hamlet of Boothorpe, and Blackfordby before visiting Swadlincote woodlands, an award winning forest park created from an old pipe work factory site. We leave the woodlands to pass by the old Cornishware factory and then on to Maurice Lea park with its bandstand and facilities. Passing through the reclaimed open cast mine that is now Gresley Woods we then join the trail following the route of the old Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway to return to Moira.
Parking is in the car park of Moira Miners Welfare, gates will be open from 9.20. On entering the car park please park on the right hand side against the hedge. Refreshments and food is available at the end.
Toilets at Lea Maurice Park and at the end.
Paths are good, but a little mud/water will be encountered on the first track to Boothorpe.
