The walk starts in the Square in Aldbourne. Walking up the verge of the road to Swindon, the path soon heads off in a North Westerly direction, heading to Upper Upham. We then walk past the medieval village of Snap for a coffee stop and then head up to the Ridgeway. Turning North, we walk through copses and woods towards Liddington Castle (lunch stop), from where we descend to the main Swindon Road. This is crossed with care (fast traffic on this stretch) and then we head up to Sugar hill and down a long straight track and back into Aldbourne.
The going maybe wet in places and care is needed on the chalk path on the Ridgeway. There are a couple of stiles and 2 long steady ascents. If the weather is kind (which at the moment is forecast), there should be some good views.
The walk is limited to 16, so please book on line on the website link by Wednesday, 31 December 2025.
Please bring refreshments for mid morning and lunchtime breaks.
