A 6 and a half mile route through gentle rolling countryside around a quiet corner of Shropshire.
Norbury lies in the peaceful River Onny valley - situated between the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. This walk will circuit out from Norbury. We'll visit the churchyard first - the yew tree there is massive, one of the largest in Britain, with a girth of 10m - probably around 2,500 years old - it's a very special tree!!
We'll then head off via the Shropshire way ascending Linley Hill. This if famous for' the Linley Beeches' - an avenue of trees ascending the hill, said to have been planted by Napoleonic soldiers in the 1740s. Some trees have been replanted - but still some impressive trees remaining.
This will offer us good views of the Long Mynd's southern flanks. We'll then head to the village of Wentnor - and yet another church, St Michael and All Angels at Wentnor.
We'll then circuit back towards Norbury. With not even 1000ft of elevation, this is best described as undulating rather than strenuous.
