A great walk up into the Pentlands with lovely views of the reservoir and towards the coast. Good paths or farm tracks all the way with one long uphill stretch when leaving the reservoir after coffee break. This will get the lungs working and we are rewarded with stunning views in both directions on the farm track between Paties and Spittal hills.
We cross the A702 at the start and finish of the walk. There are no stiles and only one walkers gate. There is one short muddy path above the main road directly before we arrive back in Carlops but it is easily negotiated.
It will take approximately 3.5 hours to complete with a coffee stop at the reservoir and lunch on the descent of Paties hill.
We park at the small car park in Carlops under the rock which is free of charge. From Biggar follow the A702 until you reach Carlops.
We’ll meet at 9.30 at the Corn Exchange to make the most of sharing cars.
