This is an easy 5.5m walk that will take us around Tynemouth and North Shields Fish Quay and should take around 3 hours.
We will start the walk at the Low Lights Car Park and head along the promenade. We will walk up a short incline towards Collingwood Monument then head towards Tynemouth Front Street via Bath Terrace. We will walk past Tynemouth Priory and King Edward’s Bay along the sea front to St George’s Church. From there we will head back along Links Road and a short pathway that runs alongside the metro line until we arrive at King Edward’s Road. We will then head to Northumberland Park and walk through the park to Tynemouth Road which will take us towards North Shields and back to the new steps that will take us back down onto the Fish Quay to the starting point.
There are several lovely places that we can stop to have a coffee break so we will see what preferences are as we walk.
The Low Lights Car park can be found with W3W flood.drape.data and postcode NE30 1JQ and parking is free.
There are toilets at the start of the walk and there will be toilets along the walk route.
The walk is on well established pathways and through some housing estates so there are no gates or styles to navigate.
At the end of the walk there are a number of cafes, restaurants and fish and chip places to stop for refreshments for those wanting to.
