This walk is going to be a gamble in terms of attracting interest for reasons that will become apparent. Parking and entrance to the house and grounds is free for members; £4 per car and £19pp otherwise; and dogs are banned from the estate. From the NT car-park, meeting by the toilets near the entrance, we will walk down to the Cotswold Way below Sands Farm. Having passed through Dyrham village, it is onto Hinton Hill with its hillfort and strip lynchets, before dropping back down into Dyrham along the Cotswold Way. Here is a secretive ‘back door’ into Dyrham Park and grounds from the Church Path, where you might have to show membership cards, before walking up through the Deer Park and back to the car park. Obviously, you can peel off once into the grounds and explore at leisure the house and gardens if you so wish. Expect great views, historic interest and fine architecturte. Three ascents and very few stiles. Bring a snack. Cafe in Dyrham Park but expect queues and the usual over-priced NT fodder.
Please note: the Finish Time is an estimate and may vary.
