An (almost) Figure of Eight walk around the (almost) perimeter of Petworth Park and Upperton Common. The walk is undulating throughout. There will be a small amount of walking on quiet roads as we walk through the village of Upperton otherwise it's tracks, footpaths and bridleways. There will be one break in a shady area on the common. There are no toilet facilities at the start of the walk but there is a portaloo available in the vineyard which we will walk through. There is a van selling refreshments at the start/finish of the walk. Dogs are welcome but will need to be on leads in Petworth Park when we are near the deer.
Pay and Display parking - free for National Trust members.
There are a number of options to leave the walk early: as we return to the Petworth via the Uppercross Gate, you could return directly to the car park thereby shortening the walk by about 1.5 miles; you could leave at Cow Barn Gate if you wished to walk into the town of Petworth; you could go into the house (NT, currently has a Turner exhibition to mark 250 years since his birth).
