We are the Brighton and Hove Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
After some urban walking we leave the town of Polegate, walking through Folkington towards Wilmington and pass by the feet of The Long Man of Wilmington. Next, we walk towards Alfriston following the Cuckmere River before turning for Litlington. We then follow the Vanguard Way and South Downs Way into and through Friston Forest. Finally, we climb up to Friston before heading down and finishing the walk at The Green in East Dean.
We will stop for a morning tea/coffee break and later a picnic lunch.
Poles may be useful on the bridleway between Folkington and Wilmington as the surface is very uneven.
On two parts of this walk we climb using a series of very steep steps.
Hospitality facilities are available close to The Green at East Dean.
Regular buses depart East Dean for Brighton/Eastbourne.
If any significant train issues are announced prior to this walk, the walk is likely to be rescheduled.
