Overview

Area/brief description of route: Bridle path from centre of Darras Hall to Limestone Lane (track), northwards, then south-west following line of River Pont past Benacres Plantation to Dissington Bridge. Thence south along Medburn Road for short distance, before returning over the fields, via Donkins House Farm to join the outward section of the bridle path back to the start.

Terrain: The walk is mainly on good, well-defined tracks and over fields, with a short section of road walking. Two stiles, both in good condition. Largely flat. Grade: Easy.


Refreshments: As this is a short walk, there will be no refreshment stop en route. N.B.The walk will precede the AGM for members of Ponteland Ramblers. There will be facilities at the venue for picnic lunches to be taken. Details will be circulated in due course.

Start point/parking: 10.30 in the free car park to the rear of the former URC Church opposite the shops on Broadway in the centre of Darras Hall (Grid ref. NZ152715 ; nearest postcode NE20 9PW) Directions to start point: From the centre of Ponteland, take Darras Road until you reach Broadway (where the shopping centre is), turn left, then first left again along Station Court to the car park at the rear of the former URC Church.
