The route crosses some woodland, open fields which may be muddy after all this rain and goes through some housing estates involving road walking, but the route is leisurely.
The length of the morning walk is variable depending on how much time we have but is based on a simple 3-4miles circular route that finishes close to the site for the afternoon 175th birthday town celebrations.
We will be joined by some German guests from Ravensburg, who have been invited by Pontyclun Town Council to join them for the 175th birthday town celebrations. I met them when I went to Ravensburg last June and I am leading a group of Ramblers there this coming September and have therefore invited these Ramblers to come so they can meet our German guests. The Ravensburg contact said they aim to meet us as planned at 10.00 but given that I don’t know exactly how and when they will arrive there will be uncertainty in the start time and hence the total time available for the walk. After the walk we will go to Pontyclun park so that our German guests can enjoy the festivities.
