Walk:  Cross the road from the bus stop and walk through New Carlton Cemetery to Calton Road and Holyrood Palace.  Toilets available in Palace café if it is open to public.

Enter Queen’s Park and take the high road (anti-clockwise) round (not up!) Arthur’s Seat. This has a steady gradient (elevation 300 ft).  Half way round we make our way down to Duddingston.  Coffee break at Dr Neil’s Garden (near the Sheep Heid Inn) where there is a toilet. Coffee shop not open on Wednesday.

After coffee we walk through Duddingston Golf Course (official path) and Figgate Park.  Lunch will be at the picnic tables next to Crumbs on the Prom (excellent bacon rolls).  If people want to catch a bus from there before or after lunch a 26 and others go along Portobello High Street.

Optional Extra - After lunch we could walk along the Prom to Joppa to the 44 bus stop. This will extend the walk to approximately 7 miles.
