This is a circular walk following the dismantled Rosedale railway line and mines. Starting at the car park on Blakey Ridge we head south following clear and easy tracks with stunning views over the valley and hopefully lots of purple heather. The descent down the valley is a bit trickier but we will make sure we take it slowly. It starts with a narrow path through the heather and finishes with a boggy section through high ferns. We will ascend on the opposite side but nothing is particularly steep. We’ll have lunch just before we make our way to the second section of the walk, passing the Rosedale mines with information boards telling us more about the history. If time permits, we could finish with refreshments at the Lion Inn pub, which we will pass just before arriving back at the car park.
