Overview

We follow several miles of the Icknield Way, claimed to be Britain's oldest road (though really more a track), with some impressive views as it traverses Hertfordshire's wide-open rolling hills. Pub stop but bring a packed lunch. 

Travel: Take the 9:41 from London St Pancras (Finsbury Park 9:48), arr Royston 10:32. Meet outside the main station building at Royston. Buy return to Royston.
