It may well be another walk between these two West Kent towns, but this one takes a completely different route. This one is to the east, and will be a brisk walk through the rolling hills and lush woodland of the High Weald, including the attractive villages of Capel, Brenchley and Matfied. There will also be a quick stop at Tudeley Church to marvel at its impressive stained-glass windows - the church will be open to go inside, but the church does ask for a £3.00 donation from those who do go inside.
The hills are very much rolling, with a total ascent of 600 metres and no particularly steep climbs. Bring a packed lunch - the lunch stop will be at a viewing point at the village of Brenchley at 10 miles distance. There is a pub in the village (for drinks only) - it is a 10 minute or so walk from the lunch stop, but it is on the route taken after lunch - so those who do choose to go there can just wait for when the group walks past.
Plenty of pubs to choose from in the Pantiles at Tunbridge Wells at the end of the walk.
Travel: Take the 9:45 from London Charing Cross (Waterloo East 9:48, London Bridge 9:54, Sevenoaks 10:19), arrive at Tonbridge at 10:30. Meet just outside the main entrance of Tonbridge Station.
Buy a return to Tunbridge Wells.
If there are issues with the trains, Southeastern tend to start services from London Bridge - so best to aim to get there for the train if possible
