From the station we walk along the canal feeder towards Leek. At the footbridge, we turn right and ascend to Lyme House, crossing Devil's Lane. We then descend to Dunwood Lane then climb up to Horton. We pass through the village by Horton Hall then descend to Lea Laughton. We then take a loop across fields and along the track to Coney Greave. We then ascend to Dairy Bank House and then follow the ridge to Horton. The churchyard makes a good lunch stop. After leaving Horton, it is about a mile via a mixture of lanes and field paths back to the cars.
