From the Station car park, we ascend gradually, passing St Lawrence’s Church, the ‘church in the wilderness’, then on to the Neolithic Bridestones burial tomb and up to the summit of Bosley Cloud. The viewpoint looks across the Marches towards Wales, the Pennines and the Peak District. From the top, secluded paths lead down into the wooded Dane Valley and along a canal goit before returning to the village. Risk assessment: There is one major road to cross with a stile on the other side and no waiting area. The path along the clough is steep and narrow in places and could be muddy after rain. The path along the goit could also be very muddy after rain. Possible livestock in some fields.
