Meet at 10am at the car park in London Lane Shere, GU5 9HE (opposite Middle Street) . There are public toilets a few minutes walk down Middle Street opposite. (in the Old Fire Station before the river bridge).
The start of the walk is the hardest part of the day, ascending up London Lane under the A25 tunnel and then passing a WW11 pillbox until the North Downs Way is reached. Here we turn left and head towards Newlands Corner.
Newlands Corner will be the coffee stop, either DIY or obtain refreshments from their kiosk. Note there are toilets at Newlands Corner but none at the lunch stop. From there we descend slowly across the open land until we cross White Lane where we go right and head up hill towards St Martha Church.
St Martha Church will be our DIY lunch stop. There are plenty of benches but little shelter.
From St Martha Church we retrace our steps a short distance but then continue straight down hill passing another WW11 pillbox. Crossing Guildford Lane and continue along the Pilgrims Way towards Albury and onto Shere. There is one stile en-route. I will be finishing the walk in Middle Street where there is the option to have a cup of tea in one of the cafes or visit the White Horse Pub.
If you would like to join the walk, please text or call the walk leader by early evening the day before. Jean A, 07802 457263
